While on the pre-med track, I’m taking advantage of my undergraduate years at NYU as a music major and a French minor. I grew up as a neighborhood babysitter in the suburbs and I would love to continue working with kids in the city!

After spending my childhood in Boston, my family and I moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where I gained a huge appreciation for iced tea and air conditioning. However, I couldn’t stay away from New England, and continued spending my summers at Camp Calumet in New Hampshire and at the beaches on Cape Cod. Eventually I combined my love of camp and the ocean by becoming a counselor and sailing teacher at Calumet. While there, I had the opportunity to live with ten, yes, ten, girls ages 8-10, and had the time of my life. Also, during the summers I taught music fundamentals to young children at the preparatory school where I studied classical piano.

I love living in New York, and while not sitting at a piano or studying chemistry, you’ll most likely find me in any park reading a book or running down the Hudson.

Studying at NYU and interning at the non-profit Doc2Dock.

My childcare expertise lies in working with...

Pre-school-middle schoolers, but I am comfortable with babies and toddlers.

Activities and skills I love to teach and share with children:

French language, music (piano specifically, but also theory, history, and composition), cooking, math, science, staying active, and most importantly having fun while learning new skills!

Most memorable childcare experience:

The SmartFamily for whom I usually work back-up/evening sitting needed me full-time for two weeks while their regular nanny was on vacation. At the end of the first day, I was admittedly exhausted: playing with the kids on the playground until 4PM, getting them in the bath, making sure they did their summer math workbooks and practiced piano, and finally preparing dinner. As we settled down for a movie, one of the children uncharacteristically snuggled next to me on the couch, and I realized that even though sometimes I have to tap into energy stores I didn't know I had, I truly do love what I do.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Completing my MBA/Master's thesis in International Health by serving with the Peace Corps.

I am:

A current undergraduate college student
