I am currently a full time student studying the discipline of Musical Theater. I hope to someday contribute to the performing arts world through music, film, TV, theater, and any other way I can. My interests vary from screenwriting to fashion. While I am very determined to be successful in my career, I also believe that having and maintaining a family is just as important as anything I do with my professional life. Growing up in an entertainment household with three sisters and a little brother taught me that.

For most of my young life, my family and I moved every year; my father played in the NFL. Once I was about 8 years old, we settled in the Los Angeles area and have stayed relatively close every since. For a long time, it had only been me and my older sister, but once my mom had my younger sister, the babies just kept coming! I soon became a very active big sister, babysitting all the time, and sometimes not liking it. But as I matured in my preteen years, I grew patient and loving with my siblings and found that taking care of someone was one of the most fulfilling things I could ever do. I began babysitting neighbors kids and family friends, and that was pretty much my only occupation throughout high school.

I will be SmartSitting while...

Attending school full-time for musical theatre at NYU!

My childcare expertise lies in working with…

Children who are at least old enough to speak, however, I have worked with infants quite a bit and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Activities and skills I love to teach and share with children:

I love working with various forms of artistic expression with kids! This includes anything from freestyle dance parties and karaoke, to arts and crafts time. I think it's important to stimulate the creative self, even if it is just a little bit every day. I would love to teach kids basketball, which I played for years, as well as inspire them to read. I learned to read at a young age, and have found that to be an extreme asset to everything I do. I have been praised for my ability to read with funny voices too!

Most memorable childcare experience:

I will never forget nannying for the Martinez family, their son Anthony and daughter Ella. Ella was about 1 year old when I began babysitting for them, and she was not always happy about me coming over, especially when it was nap time! So one day as I was rocking her in her chair, trying to calm her squirming body, I decided to start singing. I figured why not - I loved to sing and had been know to calm my siblings down with a few show tunes. I began to sing "If I Didn't Care", by the Ink Spots, and within a minute Ella had silenced her screams and was resting against my chest. I will never forget how fulfilling it felt to calm a fussy child. From then on, nap time for Ella and me became a bonding experience, a time for us to both relax our nerves and be with each other. All the craziness of the day seemed to fade away; I lived for those moments with her. It is because of that that I began to understand the true joys of child care and parenthood.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

A professional working artist - in what media, I'm not sure! I'm open to whatever happens first whether it be music, film, TV, off-Broadway, or Broadway! I just want to be making a living doing what I love. Depending on how successful I am with my career, starting a family may be around the corner, too.

I am:

A current undergraduate college student, a Hamptons sitter, a 2011-2012 afterschool sitter
