I have been working with children since I was 12 years old and find it so rewarding. My mother is a preschool teacher, and I used to help out in her classroom during the summers. After I moved to San Francisco to attend college at San Francisco State University, I started working at a Montessori Preschool. I loved leading circle time and coming up with fun arts ‘n crafts activities. I formed close relationships with a few of the children and realized that was my favorite part of the job. I began nannying my sophomore year of college and have since nannied for five different families with children ages 3 months - 5 years old.

After taking a year off from my undergraduate studies, I began pastry school to pursue my love of baking. I moved to New York City to explore the culinary scene and get new inspiration. Baking with children is something I enjoy and have done many times. My 4-year-old nephew is really into using a food processor, and a 3-year-old I used to cared for would beg for us to make gingerbread everyday. I would love to impart my love of baking onto new eager children!

I will be SmartSitting while...

Pursuing my own baking business and developing recipes.

My childcare expertise lies in working with…

Infants and children under 4 years old, but I am also comfortable with school-aged children.

Activities and skills I love to teach and share with children:

Baking, cooking, reading, sharing, and singing.

Most memorable childcare experience:

The first family I nannied for had two very special children--Devon, age 4 and Elise, age 2. At lunch time we would usually chat about what we did that morning, how preschool was going, and anything else that came to their minds (like buses and trains). One day, Devon turned to me and said, "Allison, I love you to the moon and back one thousand, two-hundred times." As if that wasn't sweet enough, Elise turned to me and said, "Allison, I love you to the library and back." Needless to say, I miss them very much.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Running a successful baking business with a non-profit edge.

I am:

A college graduate, an infant sitter, CPR Certified, a full-time sitter
