I trained in ballet, pointe, and jazz at a pre-professional youth ballet company in Ohio for eight years, and taught ballet to children ages 3-8 at the associated dance school for one year. Then I moved to Pittsburgh to attend Carnegie Mellon University, where I took a few more dance classes and was director of the student-run dance group there, teaching many classes in ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance for four years. My fourth year in Pittsburgh, I taught ballet to adults and children ages 7-14, and tap dance to children ages 3-5 at the local JCC, culminating in an end-of-year dance performance. From there, in August 2010 I moved to Manhattan to attend Columbia University for my Doctorate in Physical Therapy, and became president of the student-run dance club here, teaching classes in contemporary dance, jazz, and ballet to my fellow students and any interested people in the Columbia community.

Having taught dance to an entire spectrum of ages, from toddler to adult, I have to say that teaching children is my passion. I love that they are so full of life, eager to learn, and can take their dance education in any direction, from using it in their school's talent show, just for exercise, or to become a professional dancer!
