Originally from Chicago, I began studying the guitar at age ten in classical and popular disciplines, in high school composing for theater productions and leading my own rock band. I entered Columbia University in 2006 where I pursued a wide-ranging curriculum, including studies in music theory (2 years), ear training (2 years), orchestration (1.5 years), composition (1.5 years), music history (1 year) and music technology (1 semester). I also worked at Columbia's radio station (89.9 FM) where I regularly hosted jazz and new music programs in addition to holding a management position (Director of Operations and Engineering). Nowadays, I teach and tutor, compose and perform, assist at an indie-classical record label, and prepare for graduate school. Teaching, whether it be guitar or music in general, is a great passion of mine and very much an integral component of my future professional plans. I believe that my ability to draw on my childcare experiences as well as my musical background make me an ideal figure for the young student. Looking forward to hearing from you!
