We maintain a pre-screened network of New York’s most qualified, experienced and well-educated sitters, mentors and tutors, eliminating the need to sift through masses of applicants to find your perfect match. We’re constantly working to maximize the potential of each SmartSitter-SmartFamily relationship while minimizing the time your family spends in the search process.

• Personal Consultations

  You get to know us and we get to know your family.

  We begin with a preliminary phone call and follow up with an in-depth consultation in the privacy of your own home, or at a comfortable meeting place in your neighborhood. We learn about your family life and specific needs, and discuss how SmartSitters can provide your family with stability and support while growing with and inspiring your children.

• Immediately Connect with Our Pre-Screened Network

  Rely on instant communication from our Directors and carefully selected SmartSitters.

  Within moments of receiving your request, we begin matching the specific needs of your family with our network of pre-screened SmartSitters. Prior to joining our network, each SmartSitter fills out an online application, completes an extensive SmartSitting resume and attends a group interview led by one of our Directors. We keep two reference reports on file for each SmartSitter, many of whom work as on-call sitters for families in our network, which allows us to receive additional feedback before recommending them for long-term commitments.

• Your SmartSitter Matches

  Recommendations e-mailed within days!

  You'll receive an e-mail with SmartSitter recommendations, complete with personalized applications for your family and the candidates' SmartSitting Resumes, which include photos, bios, work and childcare experiences, specific childcare references and contact information for each recommended SmartSitter.

  We'll send recommendations for part-time sitting needs within 1-2 days. For full-time and live-in searches, we suggest leaving at least one week, but preferably 2-4 weeks, to find the ideal match for your family. We're also happy to accommodate same-day requests for SmartFamilies in our network.

• Interview Scheduling and Trial Sessions

  On your schedule, in your comfort zone.

  Choose the SmartSitters you'd like to meet and we'll happily set up an interview schedule at your convenience. Many families choose to hold interviews in the comfort of their own homes, while others prefer to choose a nearby location. After the interviews, you may set up trial sessions with up to three SmartSitters or hire your favorite sitter on the spot.

• Reference Reports and Background Checks

  Feel comfortable with your SmartSitter selection.

  We provide detailed reference reports and assist families in contacting in and out of network references for additional information. LexisNexis background checks are run on all SmartSitters prior to their first SmartSitting session.

• SmartSitter/SmartFamily Contract

  Start off on the right foot.

  Setting expectations and guidelines early on minimizes potential miscommunications and maximizes happiness for both our SmartFamilies and our SmartSitters. We offer our experience and support in helping you draft an appropriate contract for your SmartSitter, outlining general rules and day-to-day responsibilities. Before you know it, your SmartSitter will be an integral and indispensable part of your life.

  Once you've found your primary SmartSitter, our relationship with your family truly begins. We're here for you 24/7 to help with any additional coverage, whether you need an extra night out or a fill-in sitter if your primary sitter is unavailable. Our network is your support system, and we make sure your children always remain in supportive hands. We also keep you informed of the new and exciting things we're constantly working on to help enhance SmartSitting.
